Think About It

2 Timothy 2:1-7

Icebreaker

The rhythm into fall has begun. What do you most look forward to in the fall? Why?

Questions for Discussion

  1. “Be strengthened” is present, passive, imperative—ongoing, received, and commanded. Practically, what does that look like in your week?
  2. Which “waterfall” or “fire” practices most help you receive grace (Scripture, prayer, confession, silence)? What’s missing?
  3. How has regular, specific confession changed your actual experience of God’s love—not just your beliefs about it?
  4. Who poured into you, and who are you pouring into? Name real names for both.
  5. Paul says to entrust truth to “faithful” people. What markers of faithfulness should we look for before investing deeply?
  6. Mercy-gift tension: how do you love the unfaithful without letting them consume the time that should go to faithful, multiplying disciples?
  7. If you invited 2–4 people into a short, time-bound discipleship rhythm, what would the next 90 days include?
  8. Soldier: what “civilian pursuits” are entangling you? What would it mean to aim to please the One who enlisted you this month?
  9. Athlete: where do you resist “competing according to the rules” (God’s ways, God’s timing)? What discipline needs to return?
  10. Farmer: what unseen, early, repetitive work are you tempted to skip—and what “first share of the crops” keeps you motivated?
  11. Paul says, “Think over what I say.” What single truth from this passage do you need to sit with before you act?
  12. What is your one clear next step—this week—to (a) receive grace, (b) invest in a faithful person, or (c) cut an entanglement? Name the step, the day, and the person involved.

Prayer Time

What plan did the Holy Spirit stir in you for discipling others? Pray with one another for encouragement and wisdom.
