What’s one household chore you dread but feel great about once it’s done?
Discussion Questions
- Read 2 Timothy 2:20–21 together. What images or phrases in this passage catch your attention?
- Pastor Freddy T helped us see that God cleans us for salvation, but we clean ourselves for service. How does that distinction help you better understand the Gospel and living for Jesus?
- Paul ties cleansing to being “set apart.” How is cleansing through confession and repentance more about relationship than performance?
- Think about the “marriage preparation” illustration. How does that help you view confession and repentance as love for God rather than duty?
- The sermon contrasted a “house deep clean” with a “maintenance clean.” What does a deep spiritual clean look like in your own life?
- Paul says cleansing makes us useful to God. Can you think of a time when unconfessed sin dulled your usefulness, or when repentance opened new opportunities for God to use you?
- What is one way you’d love to see God use you in this next season, in a way you’ve never seen Him use you before?
- Verse 21 says cleansing prepares us for “every good work.” Which of the examples shared (sharing testimony, forgiving, serving, teaching, etc.) feels most relevant for you right now?
- What practical steps can you take this week to stay ready for the promptings of love, kindness, and sacrifice from the Holy Spirit?
- How can our group encourage and challenge one another in regular rhythms of confession and repentance?
Prayer Prompts
- Pray for a heart that sees confession and repentance not as performance but as an expression of love for God.
- Pray that God would make each of us useful and ready for the good works He has planned.
- Pray for courage to respond to the Holy Spirit’s promptings, whether that is sharing our faith, forgiving someone, or serving in a new way.
