Confused To Commissioned | John 20
Ice Breaker: “I Thought I Knew…”
Share about a time when you were completely convinced you were right about something—only to later realize you were totally wrong.
- What did you believe at first?
- What changed your perspective?
- How did it feel when you realized the truth?
Discussion Questions
Confusion
- Where in your faith journey do you currently feel confused or uncertain about God, Jesus, or the Bible?
- Have you ever experienced a time when God was clearly at work in your life—but you didn’t recognize it in the moment? What happened?
- What voices (culture, fear, past experiences, doubts) tend to compete with or drown out God’s voice in your life?
Conviction
- When did your faith move (or begin to move) from confusion to conviction? What made it real for you?
- Do you have a confident, personal belief that Jesus is your Savior—or are you still in a place of questioning and uncertainty?
- What does it look like in your daily life to live with conviction instead of casual or cultural Christianity?
- Jesus called Mary by name. In what ways have you sensed Jesus personally pursuing you?
- What is one area of your life where you are still holding back from fully trusting or obeying Jesus?
- If you truly believed—deep down—that Jesus is alive and that He is for you, how would that change your priorities this week?
Commissioning
- Who has God placed in your life right now (family, workplace, neighborhood, gym, school) that needs to hear the hope of Jesus—and what is one simple step you can take toward them this week?
Prayer Prompts
- God, I bring my questions and confusion to You. Help me not to run from You in uncertainty, but to draw closer to You in it. Open my eyes to see where You are already at work.
- Jesus, I want my faith to be real—not shallow or borrowed. Help my confusion turn into deep conviction. Let me know You personally and trust You fully.
- Lord, You know the areas where I am still holding back. I surrender those to You today. Help me trust You more than my fears, doubts, or need for control.
- Jesus, call my name. Quiet the noise around me so I can hear Your voice clearly. Give me a heart that recognizes and responds to You.
- God, place one person clearly on my heart who needs to know You. Give me boldness, love, and the right moment to share the hope of Jesus this week.
